Aboriginal painting inspiration

I’d like to share with you the image inspired in Margaret’s painting. She talked about the Therrpeyt (bush medicine) and how you can boil it, drink it and it makes you better if you have a cold. What I love about the ARTISTS OF AMPILATWATJA project is that you are given the time to contemplate a painting being made and you feel connected to the artist and the person. When I saw her canvas I noticed a little stream, a vibrant blue line, a landmark in the middle of a pattern. I knew she had visited this place many times and although its shape was abstract and minimal in her painting, it felt real… her story is real… the wisdom behind her words are real. That was my inspiration. 🌿

Other dancing frames ~ Otros fotogramas bailando

And these are other fragments for the Danzar Mundos' magazine project.
I tried to play with textures and patterns, but more importantly with rhythm :)

My barefoot ritual ~ Mi ritual descalzo

These are some other fragments of the piece I did for the Danzar Mundos.
There's a bit of Matisse's influence here, isn't it? One of my favourite artists :)

Dance as sequence ~ La danza como secuencia

Dance, cinema and animation are similar. Even in situations of stillness, if we stop time, we can perceive evident marks of what has happened and what is yet to come, physically and emotionally. We suddenly face the palpable edge of an open dramatic question. This is why I decided to create a sequence of images that helped me to accentuate the artwork's feeling of movement and rhythm.

The theme for this issue was "Dance & Cinema", and my work, "Frames of a Barefoot Ritual", was the result of thinking of dance as an external manifestation of the internal being... Dance makes visible the invisible. I also considered time as duration and reflected upon cinema and its ability to break seconds into pieces so that time can be understood (this, inspired in Bergson).

experiencing Shane Devries' work

©2010. Silla-cabeza
I had just checked the blog of Shane Devries, a South Australian painter with amazing work! I find myself talking to his characters and I really admire his technique! Fantasy, surrealism, symbolism ...So much to learn!

Sad Sidoarjo & Pachamama

©2010. Sad Sidoarjo y Pachamama.
We went to visit Mawarini and Jumaadi's exhibition, and it was amazing and sad. It made me think of my own people in Colombia, the importance of keeping your culture alive, and the ever present spiritual side of what we do as artists.
At the link below you can check their work and be inspired!
