Danza & Cine !!! ~ Dance & Cinema !!!

I had the opportunity of working on the next issue of the Argentinian Dance Magazine: "Danzar Mundos". It was a fantastic experience, and I'll be sharing with you bits and pieces of the process. Congratulations to Vanessa Menalli and her wonderful team in getting this powerful project out there!

Tuve la oportunidad de trabajar en la siguiente edición de la revista argentina "Danzar Mundos". Fue una experiencia fantástica y estaré compartiéndoles retazos del proceso de creación de las imágenes. Este es uno de los fondos que diseñé para el proyecto de "Canto a una Rosa", y el proceso de creación desde el boceto hasta la pintura digital en photoshop. Me acuerda mucho de Van Gogh :)

This is one of the backgrounds I designed for the "Ode to a Rose" project, including the digital painting process in photoshop. It reminds me a lot of Van Gogh :)

palabra ilustrada: CAÑA ~ illustrated word: CANE

Acá les comparto mi palabra de turno: "Caña"... y no sé por qué terminó con criaturitas encaramadas mirándonos con curiosidad. (¿tal vez por lo que los estamos espiando?)

This is the next illustrated word: "Cane" ... and I can't imagine why it ended up with little creatures climbing and looking at us with curiosity. (probably because we are spying on them?)

Palabra: Fondo ~ Word: Background

La siguiente palabra que el diccionario me sugirió fue: FONDO. Así que les dejo esta criaturita rosada que no pudo ser camaleón.

The next word the dictionary gave me was: BACKGROUND. Here I share with you this little pink creature that couldn't be a chameleon.

Inspirada en la iniciativa de Charles Santoso, quiero intentar ilustrar una palabra tan frecuentemente como pueda! Ojalá lo logre!
La primera es "abandonar".

Gatito con botas ~ Puss in boots

Hice esta imagen para participar en el concurso de ilustración de "Fixionaria Historias Ilustradas".  El tema era "El gato con Botas", y este es un diseño de portada. Aquí les comparto el proceso:

I developed this image to participate in the "Fixionaria Historias Ilustradas" contest. The topic was "Puss in Boots", and this is a book cover design. Here I share with you the process:


1- Primero escogí el boceto dentro de muchos en mi diario visual y empecé a trabajar los colores y la composición en photoshop:
1- First I selected the sketch from a group of ideas I had in my visual diary and started working out the colours and composition in photoshop:

2- En este momento me di cuenta de que estaba buscando formas más limpias y colores un poco más cálidos y menos contrastados. Así que decidí ensayar en Illustrator. Nóten lo diabólico que se ve el gatito sin contornos!
2- At this stage I realised that I was looking for more simple shapes as well as less contrasted and warmer colours. So I decided to try Illustrator. Note how evil that little cat looks without the contour lines!

3- Aquí añadí los personajes del fondo: el rey, el marqués y la princesa. Casi le pongo afro al hijo del molinero! :)
3- Here I included the background characters: the king, the marquee and the princess. I almost gave the windmill's son an afro hairstyle! :)

4- Dibujarle la carita al gato me costó trabajo en Illustrator, y pensé que sería bueno añadir algunas texturas, así que continué trabajando en Photoshop:
4- It was kind of difficult to draw the kitty's face in Illustrator, and I thought it would be good to add some textures, so I continued working in Photoshop:

5- Para unificar los colores y crear una sensación de volumen dibujé líneas curvas y doradas a lo largo de las montañas, que hicieran pensar en campos cultivados.
5- To unify the colours and create a sense of volume I drew golden curved lines along the mountains, to suggest the idea of cultivated fields.

6- Y finalmente comencé a jugar con texturas y sombras para oxidar, ensuciar y envejecer la imagen :)
6- And finally I began to play with textures and shadows to make the image dirty, rusty and old :)
