#1 ~ "Abandonar" ~ "Abandon"

Inspirada en la iniciativa de Charles Santoso, quiero intentar ilustrar una palabra tan frecuentemente como pueda! Ojalá lo logre!
La primera es "abandonar".

Y les presento a Oscar! ~ And this is Oscar!

Este es el último de los personajes para Canto a una Rosa, basado precisamente en Oscar Wilde. Quería que fuera un joven vulnerable y sensible pero seguro de sí mismo. Pensé que le gustaría usar mochila, a lo colombiano, y andar por ahí con un libro y un cuaderno para escribir.

This is the last of the characters for Ode to a Rose, inspired precisely by Oscar Wilde. I wanted him to look vulnerable and sensitive but confident about himself. I thought that he would like to carry a "mochila", a Colombian knitted bag, and wander around with a novel and a notebook to write on.

Les presento a Mariana ~ This is Mariana

Mariana, el penúltimo de los personajes, debía ser bonita y presumida, dos características que no son fáciles de combinar para alguien que está comenzando como yo. Pero aprendí muchísimo después de analizar cientos de imágenes de reinas y hechiceras malvadas. Todavía me falta pero quedé contenta con ella :)

Mariana, one of the last characters, needed to be pretty and presumptuous, two qualities that aren't easy to combine for someone that is starting like myself. But I leant a lot after analysing hundreds of images of evil queens and sorceresses. I still need to practice more, but I'm happy with the results so far :)

Les presento a Isabel ~ This is Isabel

Esta es Isabel. Me costó trabajo pensar en una antagonista de pelo crespo: las curvas generalmente hacen pensar en formas blandas y generosas. Es probable que la transformemos un poco en el futuro, pero creo que logré hacerla ver rígida y misteriosa :)

This is Isabel. It was kind of difficult to think about an antagonist with curly hair: usually curves make me think of soft and generous shapes. Probably we'll make some changes later on, but I think I was able to make her look rigid and mysterious :)

Gatito con botas ~ Puss in boots

Hice esta imagen para participar en el concurso de ilustración de "Fixionaria Historias Ilustradas".  El tema era "El gato con Botas", y este es un diseño de portada. Aquí les comparto el proceso:

I developed this image to participate in the "Fixionaria Historias Ilustradas" contest. The topic was "Puss in Boots", and this is a book cover design. Here I share with you the process:


1- Primero escogí el boceto dentro de muchos en mi diario visual y empecé a trabajar los colores y la composición en photoshop:
1- First I selected the sketch from a group of ideas I had in my visual diary and started working out the colours and composition in photoshop:

2- En este momento me di cuenta de que estaba buscando formas más limpias y colores un poco más cálidos y menos contrastados. Así que decidí ensayar en Illustrator. Nóten lo diabólico que se ve el gatito sin contornos!
2- At this stage I realised that I was looking for more simple shapes as well as less contrasted and warmer colours. So I decided to try Illustrator. Note how evil that little cat looks without the contour lines!

3- Aquí añadí los personajes del fondo: el rey, el marqués y la princesa. Casi le pongo afro al hijo del molinero! :)
3- Here I included the background characters: the king, the marquee and the princess. I almost gave the windmill's son an afro hairstyle! :)

4- Dibujarle la carita al gato me costó trabajo en Illustrator, y pensé que sería bueno añadir algunas texturas, así que continué trabajando en Photoshop:
4- It was kind of difficult to draw the kitty's face in Illustrator, and I thought it would be good to add some textures, so I continued working in Photoshop:

5- Para unificar los colores y crear una sensación de volumen dibujé líneas curvas y doradas a lo largo de las montañas, que hicieran pensar en campos cultivados.
5- To unify the colours and create a sense of volume I drew golden curved lines along the mountains, to suggest the idea of cultivated fields.

6- Y finalmente comencé a jugar con texturas y sombras para oxidar, ensuciar y envejecer la imagen :)
6- And finally I began to play with textures and shadows to make the image dirty, rusty and old :)

¡¡¡Sàlvia, encargada de hacer publicaciones en los blogs de la biblioteca de Cocentaina (Alicante, España) ha tenido el detalle de compartir unas de mis ilustraciones en un par de sus revistas digitales!!! Me siento muy alagada de poder estar al lado de ilustradores y escritores tan talentosos haciendo parte de proyectos tan importantes para la promoción de lectura en los niños. Aquí les comparto los links.

Siluetas de los personajes ~ Character's silhouettes

Estos son los personajes dibujados en grupo para estudiar las formas, de tal manera que pudiéramos identificar algo de sus personalidades y estructuras viendo las siluetas.

These are the characters drawn together to study their shapes, so we could identify elements of their personalities and structures just by looking at their silhouettes.
